Regular Tie Downs for Small Trucks
I just got a new Nissan Titan and I wanted to move a lot things around with it. I have to admit that the trunk is just like a dumpster, you will be able to find all kinds of trash like stuff in it, sometimes I think I am just a hoarder! In the beginning I believed that I could pack them well, in the middle of stacking I was totally lost. In the end I just gave up and threw all stuff together, and stared at the big mess I created. My mind was boggled but I knew I couldn’t drive with the trunk full of “garbage”, What would happen to me if I did drive like this? you could imagine the whole mess would collapse onto the road and might cause accident, or I got stopped by police officer before anything could happen and got ticket and points.
I still needed to go ahead, I could start over and try to tidy them up and tie them down or simply find something to hold them together, to sum it up, I only need to find something to hold all stuff together and I would be good to go! Was that simple? Would I have to buy something like 4600lbs working load limit binder chain or 3333lbs ratchet strap ? Not likely. I just need something a few hundred pounds strength to hold some luggage and boxes together, nothing qualifies for serious cargo tie downs.
I dived into the tie down world for something can be used with my pick up and the tie downs may not to overkill for my situation, at first I found some 1” ratchet straps, camouflage ones, I liked these straps but they are too much in strength for me, though there were not expensive at all, cam buckle tie downs were not better in this sense, all I found was too much for my simple application which was to hold things together, the 1” ratchet straps won’t be able to do anything to the huge mess, only would bring more chaos. Small pieces need something like a net to hold them together, not tie downs. I went through a lot of information and finally arrived at cargo nets , I could choose from 48”x60” or 60”x84”, depends on my need, and this was just what I needed, It’s real easy to hold stuff with cargo net, just put the net on the stack, get the hooks hooked on the truck, done. Of course when we’re talking about cargo net we have to mention bungee cord , actually the cargo net are made of connected bungee cords. For the record, the cargo nets and bungee cords are perfect for hold small stuff together, especially irregular objects in my case. And these nets and cords are perfect cargo control stuff for cars, small trucks and small vans, you will be able get good deals all over the place.
